A YOUTH CONFERENCE BUILT ON CHRIST

This weekend is about helping our students understand who they are in the family of Christ, and to help them live a life for Christ, to be imitators of Christ, to be The Salt and Light for this world.

We want our young people to know that they are not alone and powerless as they live out each day of their lives. As believers, we have the promise of power.

Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

This year’s tag line for Momentum ‘09 is “TAKE A STAND”.  We want our students to be able to stand up for what they believe and that is, “Jesus Christ is the only way.”

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

This passage, that we believe to be true, can cause our young people grief, because the world is telling them differently. The world tells our youth that they need to be tolerant to other ways of thinking and be open minded to all beliefs.  As Christians, we believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, therefore we cannot compromise.

 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.“ 2 Timothy 3:16 & 17

Momentum is about equipping our young people to do ministry wherever they go, that’s what Jesus’ Great Commission is all about.  We want to encourage all our young people to not be afraid of calling themselves Christians; to take a stand for Christ with their lives.  As in the book of Daniel, our world needs young people like Daniel and his friends, four young people standing firm in their beliefs to affect a nation. Our youth can accomplish this same feat and we hope that this year’s Momentum will encourage and inspire the young people of Burke County and the surrounding areas to “TAKE A STAND” for Christ.
